HELPING YOU BUILD A STRONGER PARTNERSHIP WITH YOUR HORSE

We believe that the relationship between horse and rider should be built on trust and mutual respect. That is why we train the horses in our care using cutting-edge, relaxation-based techniques developed by Anna and Pawel Marciniak of OneHorseLife. This approach not only helps the horse feel healthier and happier but also helps riders communicate more naturally, strengthening their bond both in and out of the arena.

“Many riders leave the sport because of conventional training methods, but there are kinder, more effective ways to work with these incredible animals and that is what we teach you how to do.”

RELEASING TENSION RATHER
THAN FORCING ACTION

Conventional training methods that rely on pressure and force can cause tension, stress, and confusion, leading to burnout and breakdowns in communication. That is why we focus on releasing tension rather than forcing action. By using relaxation-based techniques, we help horses move freely and confidently, allowing them to express themselves in a way that feels true empowering to them and you.

“Horses are sensitive animals with a deep connection to their bodies and surroundings and we honour that in our training with them.”

MEET YOUR TRAINER

“Relaxation-based techniques transformed my own horse who, a victim of modern equestrianism where the values and purity of true partnership are often lost, suffered mentally and physically. Thanks to our work together he has fully recovered and helps me to demonstrate the OneHorseLife system at my day clinics.” ~ Julia Mayrand

Julia Mayrand is a skilled and compassionate horse trainer who understands that trust is key to a successful partnership which is why before even stepping into the pen, she prioritises building trust and connection using relaxation-based techniques. Her experience as a trainer has been deeply informed by her experiences as an owner. When Julia needed help with her horse Ramzes, she turned to Anna Marciniak of OneHorseLife for help. Through the Optimal Performance Program (OPP) and Residual Tensions Release Therapy (RTRT), she not only transformed Ramzes’ behaviour and appearance but also opened her eyes to the possibilities of conscious relaxation, tension release, and true communication between horse and rider.

Now, as a certified coach and trainer in these techniques, Julia shares this knowledge with her clients, using her own experience to demonstrate the profound success that can be achieved.

Beyond the equestrian world, Julia brings a unique perspective shaped by her background in fashion and technology. A former fashion model, she also spent six years working in tech, most notably as an AI manager at a prestigious global luxury brand. Her connections in the arts and business world make her horses highly sought after for creative projects, from photoshoots to brand collaborations.

MEET OUR HORSES

  • Ramzes is the first horse that Julia trained using OneHorseLife techniques. After a life as an amateur horse, he was sold five times to different families, causing him to lose faith in humans. He also struggled with several health issues, including kissing spines, laminitis, and piroplasmosis, which required careful management. Through relaxation-based training, he regained trust and developed exceptional body awareness.

Today, he teaches long reins to our students and demonstrates all eight techniques of OPP during clinics.

  • As a sportive horse with great potential, Ibiza carried built-up tension and faced several challenges, making her unsafe to ride without harsh bits. Thanks to OPP and RTRT, she completely transformed and developed awareness of her breathing patterns.

Today she teaches the subtle art of riding and contact and her striking beauty makes her a sought-after model for brands, artists, and magazines.

  • Coup de Coeur is a gelding who competed in showjumping up to 135cm level. He had a history of aggression towards other horses and after being abandoned on a beach had developed severe trauma around water. Thanks to relaxation of the digestive tract that was causing him discomfort and behavioral issues he is now a calm and happy companion. He’s even become a great friend to our dogs, enjoying their company in the stall.

Today he teaches students of all levels and is also trained by Julia in dressage.

  • The youngest of our herd, Java is naturally affectionate and eager to learn. Currently in training with Julia to become a dressage horse, he also introduces students to basic relaxation techniques on the ground, helping them understand how to approach young horses.

  • OUR SUCCESS STORIES

Three months of OPP and RTRT helped Eole overcome contact issues and accept the bit with relaxation. This led to immediate improvement in her performance and a stronger bond with her owner.

  • OUR SUCCESS STORIES

Shy and tense due to his sensitive nature as a red blood delivery foal, Karma initially struggled to make progress in his training but after four months of dedicated work, he overcame these challenges and is now excelling in young horse competitions. His remarkable development has drawn the attention of respected international trainers, who are now supporting his promising future.

  • THE IMPACT OF OUR WORK

Julia and I have been working with my mare, Kadanz, since April 2024. I wanted to revisit all my foundational work using the Optimal Performance program because my mare had been diagnosed with significant, persistent muscle tension in her trapezius, despite a complete adjustment of the equipment and thorough veterinary care. I chose Julia and One Horse Life because I knew it was one of the few methods that truly focuses on the horse and respects their time. If your horse isn’t ready to move on to the next step, Julia will keep working to ensure they’re fully prepared, so the transition is effortless. This should be the norm! I’m thrilled with everything we’ve achieved together, and I highly recommend Julia to anyone looking to transform their relationship with their horse and horsemanship.

  • THE IMPACT OF OUR WORK

I participated in the OPP and RTRT seminars organised by Julia to discover the OHL methods. I was able to learn and put into practice the fundamentals of these methods with Julia's guidance. I’m gradually discovering all the benefits of these methods, which I have applied with my 4-year-old mare to improve her relaxation, both physical and mental. I highly recommend and thank Julia for enabling more riders and horses to get introduced to these methods, which lead to profound and lasting changes.

  • THE IMPACT OF OUR WORK

Julia has been working with my mare since May 2024, following an injury and a 4-month recovery in the stable. She was anxious, fearful, and suffering from arthritis. The OPP method is exactly what we've all been waiting for - the results of which once seemed like a distant dream. My mare has completely transformed. She is now calmer (yes, it was possible!), more relaxed in her work, better aligned with her condition (osteoarthritis) (yes, that’s possible too!), and even closer to me - cuddles and licks that I never thought I’d get from her. She’s also developed a much healthier relationship with food, noise, and new experiences. In short, it’s been like a second wind for her. The road is still long, but it’s much more pleasant now, with progress that keeps us motivated to keep going. Patience is key, but it’s easy to be patient when you see these kinds of results. This is a method that works, and it lasts! I will never be grateful enough to have had Julia on my journey. My mare thanks you, Julia. You’ve truly saved us!
